2022 Winter Soccer

This Winter, Legacy Sports will be offering the following in-house Soccer Training Academy in preparation for the Spring Season.
  • This will be an 8-week program running from January 8 - February 26 on Saturdays Only (6 session guarantee)
  • All sessions will be held at Southbrook Church on the athletic field
  • About one week before the first session, the division breakdown will be determined by birth year and registration numbers
  • Each division will be assigned one 75-minute time slot per Saturday to work on individual skill development for the first 30 minutes and then play 3v3, 4v4, or 6v6 scrimmages for the remainder of the session. There will be no distinct teams; players will be divided up differently each Saturday based on who shows up and how things are going.
  • Players will receive a reversible "practice" jersey rather than a full uniform; this will allow for flexibility on Saturdays during scrimmage time

We've moved to a two-step registration model. No fees will be collected during the first step but you still need to register to lock in your spot. Once we have enough players signed up and we are confident the league will be able to begin as planned, you will receive a follow up "accept your place" on the team email so you can either opt out or confirm participation and select a payment plan.

At this time, masks are not required for any Legacy activities. If anything changes, we will let everyone know right away.

Soccer Program Information

Recreational League
All of our recreational teams are coached by volunteers and are designed to help players improve regardless of their skill or experience level. Expect a mixture of beginners and experienced players. Our player development model includes coaches discussing The Legacy Story during each practice. Teams practice 1 or 2 nights/week @ 5:00pm or later for 60-90 minutes.

All teams will compete in the Union County Youth Soccer League (includes teams from Waxhaw, Weddington, Indian Trail, and Mint Hill). All practices will be held at Southbrook Church but games will be played at various locations in Union County mostly on Saturdays with some occasional Sunday afternoons.

Academies & Camps (Summer/Winter)
Our Soccer Academies & Camps are designed to help players learn to enhance basic soccer fundamentals (dribbling, passing, shooting, defensive positioning, etc.) in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Expect a mixture of beginners and experienced players along with plenty of scrimmage/game play. Age range varies. Our player development model includes coaches discussing The Legacy Story during each session.

What happens if there are not enough players in a division?
If we are unable to get enough coaches and/or players to create a full team in any division, we will look at combining multiple divisions (making the age gap larger) before canceling anything. If cancellation is necessary, registrants will receive a full refund.

What's the difference between Academies and Camps?
Academies run for 3-8 weeks with 1-2 sessions per week each lasting 75-90 minutes. Camps run 4 consecutive days (M/T/W/TH) with each session lasting 2-4 hours each. Both are designed to meet the description listed above with the main difference being the time frame.
