Basketball Program Information

Summer Camps (Birth Years 2005-2014)
The Legacy Sports Basketball Summer Camps are designed to help players learn to enhance dribbling, shooting, and passing skills in an organized, fun, and relaxed atmosphere. All summer camps will be led by Scott Tyson who is currently the Head Coach for multiple basketball teams at Arborbrook Christian Academy (Boys Varsity, Girls Middle School). Expect a mixture of beginner and intermediate players along with plenty of scrimmage/game play. In most cases, we offer separate boys and girls camps. Our player development model includes coaches discussing The Legacy Story during each session.

Seasonal Academies (Birth Years 2006-2011)
Legacy Sports Basketball Academies are designed to help players learn to enhance dribbling, shooting, and passing skills in an organized, fun, and relaxed atmosphere. All academies will be led by
David Fry who has years of experience preparing players to compete in the game of life as well as basketball (read more about Coach Fry, formerly with Triple Threat Basketball OC in California). Expect a mixture of beginner and intermediate players along with plenty of scrimmage/game play. Our player development model includes coaches discussing The Legacy Story during each session.

Small Group Training Sessions (6th-12th Graders)
In order to be successful in basketball, players need to be capable of doing multiple things on the court but scoring is still the primary goal. Someone needs to be able to make shots. Our small group sessions (max of 4 players) will focus on developing proper shooting technique and habits plus 1-2 "go to" offensive moves. Players will get 250+ shots per session and primarily work in pairs (shooter/rebounder). All small group training sessions (max of 4 players) will be led by Scott Tyson who is currently the Head Coach for multiple basketball teams at Arborbrook Christian Academy (Boys Varsity, Girls Middle School).

League Details (Birth Years 2005-2014)
Our Recreational Leagues (Jr. LBA and Jr. WLBA) are designed to help players improve regardless of their skill or experience level. Teams are coached by volunteers. Expect a mixture of beginners and experienced players. Our player development model includes coaches discussing The Legacy Story during each practice. Divisions are now being broken down by Birth Year (check out our creative names below).

  • Jr. LBA Divisions: Naismith Academy (Coed, 2012-2014), Wooden (Boys, 2010-2011), Jimmy V (Boys, 2007-2009)
  • Jr. WLBA Divisions: Pat Summit (Girls, 2005-2011)
  • Rosters set late-November, practices begin first Saturday in December
  • Games start first or second Saturday in January and end the final Saturday in February
  • Older teams practice one night/week @ 5:00pm or later (Naismith Academy is held on Saturdays only)
  • Locations: Marvin AME Zion Church & Arborbrook Christian Academy

What happens if there are not enough players in a division to create four (4) teams?
Our goal is to have a minimum of 4 or more teams in any given division. If we fail to get enough coaches and/or players to create 4 teams, we may combine multiple division into one (making the age gap larger), consider playing non-Legacy teams, or cancel the division.

What's the difference between Academies and Camps?
Academies run for 3-8 weeks with 1-2 sessions per week each lasting 75-90 minutes. Camps run 4 consecutive days (M/T/W/TH) with each session lasting 2-4 hours each. Both are designed to meet the description listed above with the main difference being the time frame.
